The combination of mountainous landscapes, year-round natural attractions, and relatively easy access from Karaj and Tehran makes Khor an appealing choice for a short getaway and nature excursion in the foothills of the Alborz Mountains.

Where Is Khor Village?
Khor Village is located in Adaran Rural District, Asara District, Karaj County, in Alborz Province, Iran. It lies in the mountainous region of the Central Alborz range, on the western slopes of the Pahneh Hesar heights. The village can be reached via one of the side roads branching off the Karaj–Chalus Road and is situated near Amir Kabir Dam, also known as Karaj Dam.
The village’s mountainous setting, fruit orchards, and location among valleys and highlands have created beautiful natural scenery. Its proximity to villages such as Sijan and Charan also makes it part of the attractive rural tourism area of Adaran.

Nature and Tourist Attractions in Khor Village
One of the most remarkable features of Khor Village is its mountainous environment and diverse natural landscapes. Fruit orchards, particularly cherry and sour cherry trees, add a special charm to the village, with beautiful blossoms in spring and colorful fruits in summer. Alongside the orchards, rocky mountains, mountain valleys, and flowing streams and springs provide excellent opportunities for walking and nature exploration.

Some of the area’s most notable attractions include:
Khor Waterfall
Khor Waterfall is the most important natural attraction in the area and one of the well-known waterfalls in Alborz Province. Located in the highlands above the village, the waterfall is reported to be approximately 50 meters high. Its water is supplied by streams originating in the Pahneh Hesar heights and flows through rocky terrain and mountainous landscapes.
Reaching the waterfall requires a short hike. The trail passes through mountainous scenery and follows the watercourse. Depending on the starting point and trail conditions, the walk generally takes around 45 minutes to one hour.
Khor Waterfall is particularly beautiful in spring, when increased water flow enhances its scenery. In summer, the cool mountain air and natural surroundings make it an attractive destination for nature lovers. During winter, falling temperatures cause parts of the waterfall to freeze, creating a distinctive and spectacular landscape. However, winter visits require proper preparation and suitable equipment because the trail can become icy and slippery.

Fruit Orchards and Natural Landscapes
Fruit orchards are among the most beautiful features of Khor Village. Cherry, sour cherry, and other fruit trees produce lovely white and pink blossoms in spring, creating a charming landscape. Summer is also an excellent time to enjoy the green orchards and the village’s cool mountain climate.
Several mountain trails and natural valleys around Khor attract visitors interested in walking, nature photography, and hiking.

Khor Ski Resort
Khor Ski Resort is another popular tourist attraction located near the village. During winter, when snow conditions are suitable, the resort welcomes visitors interested in winter sports and activities such as skiing and snow tubing.
Its location amid Khor’s mountainous scenery allows visitors to combine winter sports with exploring the area’s natural attractions. However, the resort’s operation depends on snowfall and weather conditions, so visitors are advised to check its operating status before setting out.
