But it is cold in the other two seasons of the year.. The village is one of the beautiful areas and summer resorts in Fars province and used to host many nomads of the region in the past. With the passage of time, this summer resort has been changed to a permanent residential area and has got the name Margoon.

Similar to many other Iranian villages, people residing in this village work mostly in the fields of agriculture, animal husbandry and gardening; while some of them also make handicrafts. Women of the village, not only cooperate in farming activities, but also are active in the field of handicrafts; for instance, they weave special carpets and rugs called kilim and jajim. Wheat and barley are the two main agricultural products; fruits like apple and walnut are also planted in the gardens of Margoon. The flora of the village consists of juniper trees, Persian terebinth trees, and trees of wild pear and a species of wild plum. Animal species such as partridge, hawk, wolf, fox, bear, and reynard form the fauna of Margoon village.

Talking about the architecture of Margoon village, we should say that in the dense residential texture of the village, houses are built in a step-like fashion so that the roof of one house forms the yard for another. Therefore houses have got flat roofs. Older residential units are built of materials like stone, wood, and thatch while in construction of the newer houses, iron, stone, brick, chalk and the like are used.

You may like to know what has made Margoon village one of the most interesting and beautiful recreational sites in Iran, especially of Fars province. The village has got a distinct position thanks to its unique natural sceneries such as Margoon waterfall, the two mountain peaks of Barm-e Firooz and Ranj, Gambil recreational site, and a ski resort. Margoon waterfall is one of the most splendid Iranian waterfalls flowing through rocks in Margoon valley from an altitude of 70 meters in an area of 100-meter width. The natural condition of Margoon waterfall is very attractive and catches the eye of each and every traveler. Wild trees which have grown on the steep slopes of the valley, in addition to the high mountains and mossy rocks, multiply the beauty and magnificence of the area around the waterfall. With its tourism capacities, this natural complex is frequented every year by thousands of tourists and travelers.

However, natural attraction of Margoon village is not limited to what we have mentioned so far. Ranj mountain peak, with an altitude of more than 3600 meters, is located in the southern parts of the village. This mountain peak which leans against the surrounding mountains like a huge erratic piece of rock, is visited by many mountaineers and lovers of nature. As another interesting tourist attraction site, we can point to Shekarak ski resort which hosts many skiers and tourists during winter. Earlier in the program, we mentioned the name of Barm-e Firooz mountain peak. On the way to this peak there are more than 260 small natural pools. The path to this peak is full of water reservoirs. Spring is the most suitable season to visit these beautiful natural pools. And finally, visiting the nomads residing in the area, and also the villagers in their local clothes can be very fascinating for tourists. People who visit Margoon village take walnut, honey, and gold fish as souvenirs. Margoon is accessible via an asphalt road from Sepidan town and also the city of Yasooj.

<img title="Margoon Waterfall" loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full
